"Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale"
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is a fairytale originally created by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in 1836. Since then, the Little Mermaid has been adapted into various other media types such as musical theather, animated films and picture books. As Hans Christian Andersen depicts the tale as a story that demonstrates the unity between humans and the sea through creative writing and visuals that are not possible in reality such as talking animals, it is no wonder this story is popular among all ages today, both past and present generations.
The fairytale is about a young mermaid who is willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid, so she can gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. To gain love of the prince, she must change her identity on a whole, and give up everything both family and friends and her typical lifestyle.
